NASAMS is combat-ready for Australian Army

System enters full service, expanding Army’s air defence coverage

CANBERRA, Australia, (Sept. 16, 2026) – Raytheon Australia, part of RTX’s (NYSE: RTX) Raytheon business, has announced that the NASAMS™ air defence system is combat-ready for the Australian Army. This completes a multi-year project to deliver a modern air defence system to protect Australia’s service members and critical infrastructure.

With NASAMS, the Army can quickly detect, track and respond to airborne threats such as aircraft, drones and cruise missiles. The Australian configuration builds on the baseline system with adaptations for local operating environments and mission needs, incorporating Australian-designed radar technology.
“With Australian soldiers now trained to operate the system, NASAMS is fully integrated, trained and ready to deliver the protection Australia needs today,” said Ohad Katz, managing director of Raytheon Australia. “Sustained combat success has driven global demand for NASAMS, and RTX is investing to accelerate production of these critical capabilities.”
NASAMS is a highly adaptable, combat-proven short-range air defence system. The Australian variant includes CEA radars, Kongsberg’s Fire Distribution Centre, the Raytheon High Mobility Launcher on the Hawkei vehicle, a Raytheon Australia multispectral ground system, and Raytheon’s effector suite, including the AMRAAM®, AMRAAM ER and AIM 9X® missiles.
