Packaging together situational awareness solutions can help you enhance safety and lower costs while gaining size, weight and power efficiencies. Our highly integrated traffic surveillance systems combine TCAS II technologies with Mode S transponder functions – as well as emerging ADS-B applications – into a single unit.

Mode S transponders

An aircraft flies over an air traffic control tower

The complexities of today's crowded airspace require situational awareness, and transponders are a crucial element. Our solid-state, crystal-controlled Mode S Transponder systems give crews real-time visual display of surrounding airspace with information on potential collision threats to ensure flight crew safety. The active transponder replies to ground-based secondary surveillance radar interrogations to provide ground controllers with aircraft position identification, altitude and enhanced surveillance data.

Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems

Key information on immediate threats of surrounding aircraft in flight is a constant requirement of today’s military pilots. At Collins Aerospace, we give mission flight crews precision situational awareness through a wide range of trusted traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS), including our advanced TCAS II system based on technology we developed for the 787 ISS-2100 Integrated Surveillance System to address the emerging requirements of the NextGen® airspace.
